There are many fantastic events going on around the Local area in 2018, so to ensure that you don’t miss out, I have included my list of top 5 events for 2018.
Harrogate Spring Flower Show (near outskirts of Harrogate) 26th – 29th April 2018
Harrogate Spring Flower Show is the first big event in the gardening calendar, welcoming the new growing season with a spectacular celebration of the very best in horticulture.
Rated Britain’s top gardening event by Which?, this prestigious event will run from 26 – 29 April 2018, featuring beautiful show gardens, great shopping, live entertainment and the biggest exhibition by florists and flower arrangers in the country.
Tour de Yorkshire (Various Yorkshire) 3 May – 6 May 2018
The Tour de Yorkshire 2018 route will see the riders tackle four stages through the best of the Yorkshire countryside, starting in Beverley on Thursday, May 3, and finishing in Leeds on Sunday, May 6. Stage three of the Tour sees the riders pass through our local towns of Northallerton and Thirsk, where no doubt the Yarn bombers will be out in full force.
North Yorkshire Show (between Thirsk & Northallerton) 17th June 2018
There will be many exciting displays and demonstrations at the Show, plus a whole range of Main Ring Attractions, Classic Cars and Motorcycles, A Fun Dog Show, Cattle, Sheep and Poultry, Rabbits, Cavies, Hamsters and Ferrets, Bungee Trampolines, Country Pursuits, Carriage Driving, Horticulture and Produce, Arts, Crafts, Photography, and the Yorkshire Country Women's Association & Children's Classes.
Great Yorkshire Show (near outskirts of Harrogate) 10th – 12th July 2018
Some 100,000 visitors are expected to attend this farming and countryside showcase over the three day event. The crowds will see some of the UK's finest cattle, sheep and pigs competing for the coveted championship rosettes, as well as 2,000 horses in the show jumping and equine classes.
Along with the livestock classes, there will be an action-packed programme of music, food and country pursuits to entertain people of all ages. The food hall will be home to some of the country's finest refreshments, along with cookery theatres to inspire those passionate about food.
Borrowby Show (Knayton, near Thirsk) 25th July 2018
Borrowby show was first held in 1949, it is now a regular feature on the last Wednesday in July.
Field classes cover most farm animals. Tent classes and exhibits range from, cattle, sheep and farm produce through garden produce, flowers, cookery, wine, arts & crafts and children's competitions. There are showjumping events, a gymkhana and a fancy dress parade. Trade stands, Craft tent, Dog show and other attractions add further interest. Licensed Bar, Refreshments, Ice Cream.
