This week we joined together with Thirsk School to provide a one week’s work experience placement for one of its year 10 students Tom Spence. Below we find out more about Tom and his time at Hillside.
“Hi my name is Tom Spence, I’m 15 years old. I’m a year 10 student at Thirsk School and I play cricket for Thirsk CC and Hambleton under 15’s. When I’m older I want to be a groundsman at a sports club. I came to Hillside Cravan Park for the staff are very friendly and as my work experience because I have heard so many great things about the yorkshire caravan park. The experience has taught me so many new things of what there is in the working world after school and where else I can possibly do groundwork other than sports clubs. My favourite part about working at hillside is the new things I have learnt, such as how to move, store and lock a caravan, I have learnt how to look after plants in the hot weather we have had. Getting to maintain the camping pods gave me an insight into Glamping. My communication skills have got better after working with other members of staff and talking to the camp site visitors. It has been a great week at hillside and will hopefully visit again soon.”
We’d like to thank Tom for his hard work this past week, it has been a pleasure to have a young student so hard working and enthusiastic amongst the ranks. From everyone at Hillside we wish Tom all the best for his GCSE exams next year.
